Overview:
We are looking for a dynamic, passionate and results-driven Employee Benefits Consultant to manage existing clients. The candidate should be a professional, positive, outgoing person who can manage a portfolio of standalone and umbrella retirement fund clients.
The overall purpose of the role
- Taking responsibility for consulting services on a portfolio of participating employers and stand-alone retirement funds
- Assisting with the governance and running of the Umbrella Fund
- Management and mentorship of a team
- Reviewing current processes and initiating ways to improve and enhance efficiency in processes
- The maintenance and ongoing servicing of existing business as the lead relationship manager for the assigned portfolio of clients
- Promote and support new business initiatives for the team
Responsibilities of the roles
Prepare for, and conduct Meetings
- Prepare meeting packs for Committee meetings
- Reporting on completion of all actions from previous meetings
- Analyse the Participating Employer’s or Fund’s position and any issues pertinent thereto, and assess any new legislative developments / best practices that need to be included in the agenda
- Facilitate Committee meetings and record discussions to prepare minutes
- Ensure that action items and tasks are completed and implemented by the responsible parties
- Circulate completed minutes to clients within one week of the meeting date
Risk-benefit Management
- Review risk-benefit structures for funds and participating employers before market tests or renewals
- Prepare risk-benefit market tests for Committee consideration
- Manage and monitor free cover limits for all members across group life schemes
- Manage underwriting process for individuals
Investments
- Prepare investment return summaries and collate them to present in the Committee agenda pack
- Arrange investment presentations by investment managers at Committee meetings
- Prepare and send investment communication to Committee members
General Fund Management
- Maintain client master file by filing all updated documents immediately
- Draft communication and reporting for Committees
- Prepare and monitor Section 14 applications
- Review financial statements and monthly management accounts and liaise with the relevant parties to implement any corrections before presentation to the Committee
- For standalone clients review actuarial valuations and liaise with the relevant parties to implement any corrections before presentation to the Committee
- Collate and provide fund-related information to admin, finance, service providers and clients as required
- Request and manage deadlines for any information/documentation required for internal or external reporting (e.g. admin reports for agendas, investment reports etc.)
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor of Law or Commerce Degree with 5-7 years consulting experience in an Employee Benefits environment – OR
- 7+ years experience in an Employee Benefits Consulting environment, if without a Degree
- Certified Financial Planner (CFP) – compulsory
- FAIS Accreditation – compulsory
